Tom & Michele O’Brien

Tom & Michele are church planters with Christar among the Maranao Muslims in the Philippines.  Their goal is to spread the gospel to each of the least reached areas of Mindanao and Sulu.  They equip nationals through a school called Life Resources Foundation (LRF) and through several projects such as an herbal processing plant and a floating medical clinic.  They have one child still at home.

August 2010 

Thank you so much for praying for Tom's Dad, George O'Brien. His surgery went very well. He is home now and slowly regaining his strength and returning to normal life. PTL that he seems to have no long term consequences from the blood clot that was removed from his head. So many of you were supportive. We are grateful. 

Mobile Clinic

Harold, Jonie, and Evelyn will form our new Mobile Clinic Team. We meet with the elders of our church, MMKI, this week to formalize the team. Harold will run the clinic ministry. Jonie, his wife, will head up mothers' classes, and Evelyn will run the pharmacy. Our other team members will assist cleaning teeth, helping with minor surgeries, and seeing patients. We were in Balo-i today working on setting up regular clinic ministry in this town. Tom, Colin, and Brendon removed a lipoma from a lady's arm.

Maranao Student Organization

Each week our team hosts three student events. These Maranao Student Organizations (MSO) meet weekly and seek to teach the Scriptures in two different high schools and at a local college. Pray that God will bless with spiritual fruit. Tom and Dolly helped Jackie learn to pray this week. She is one of our most faithful students. We are also working to develop Tingintingin. Farmers just traveled to Tablon to learn how to plant lagundi this last week. The blessing of God to help Perfectly Natural Herbs to sell lagundi has helped us to bring the Word of God and community development to this farming community. Currently, our team has two Bible studies in the area.

Prayer Requests

a. Pray for the salvation of many who are benefiting from the growth of Perfectly Natural Herbs. We have been able to continue to support our ministry since May from earnings from our teas and capsules.

b. Pray for wisdom as we prepare to export to Australia.

c. Pray for Jamail and Koling as they work with farmers in Tingintingin.

d. Continue to pray for our weekly radio broadcasts. We continue to get good feedback each week.

e. Pray for the Mobile Clinic ministry as we travel to Parang next week.

f. We praise the Lord for Brendon, a Moody student, who served with us this summer. He lived and worked with our team as they proclaimed the gospel. Pray for wisdom for Brendon as he seeks God's will for his future missionary career.

g. Pray for Colin as he has returned to Faith Academy in Manila for his sophomore year in high school.
